More than 5.5 million people who are over 70 or clinically extremely vulnerable will begin receiving letters today for coronavirus jab appointments in a “significant milestone” for the government’s vaccination programme.
The number of people who have already been vaccinated, including the over-80s, care home residents and health service and social care staff, is expected to exceed four million today as the NHS carries out 140 inoculations every minute.
